Article 996. Rights to things that are the subject of a commission.

1. Things received by the commissioner from the committent or acquired by the commission agent at the expense of the committent are the property of the latter. 2. The commission agent shall have the right, in accordance with Article 359 of this Code, to retain the things in his possession, which are subject to transfer to the committent or to the person indicated by the committent, to secure their claims under the commission agreement. In the event that the principal is declared insolvent (bankrupt), the indicated right of the commissioner is terminated, and his claims on the principal within the value of the things he held are satisfied in accordance with Article 360 ​​of this Code along with the requirements secured by a pledge.
